Environmental, Social & Governance

Our Approach

Sealy & Company’s approach to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices is fundamentally focused on risk reduction and return enhancement, with the aim of generating substantial value. Our environmental initiatives prioritize sustainability and resource efficiency, contributing to our resilience and competitive edge. Our social initiatives are directed toward positively impacting the communities we serve and fostering robust relationships with our partners and tenants. Furthermore, our governance framework emphasizes transparency, accountability, and adherence to high ethical standards. Collectively, these commitments ensure that our business practices remain aligned with the evolving expectations of the industry.

Environmental Stewardship

We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint across our portfolio, implementing efficient, sustainable solutions that benefit both tenants and stakeholders. Through responsible building practices and solid tenant partnerships, we prioritize operational efficiencies and resource conservation to drive cost savings.

Sustainable Building Practices
We actively pursue energy and water conservation throughout our portfolio, partnering with tenants to meet their sustainability goals. Our efforts focus on reducing operating costs while promoting responsible environmental practices, including:
  • Modernized HVAC and energy-efficient systems
  • Enhanced lighting systems and natural lighting solutions
  • Energy-efficient roofing technologies
  • Water-saving innovations and practices
BOMA 360 Certification
Since pursuing BOMA 360 Performance Program designations in 2023 we have achieved this certification for multiple properties, underscoring our commitment to operational excellence and sustainable practices. Properties that achieve the BOMA 360 designation demonstrate exceptional performance across multiple areas, ensuring best practices and enhanced building value.
Key areas evaluated by the BOMA 360 program include:
  • Building Operations and Management: This area emphasizes effective operational procedures, including standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance, and financial management practices. Buildings are evaluated for efficiency in managing daily operations, ensuring reliability, and maintaining optimal performance.
  • Life Safety, Security, and Risk Management: BOMA 360 properties adhere to stringent safety and risk protocols to protect tenants and occupants. These include emergency preparedness and response plans, fire and life safety systems, and cyber security protections to safeguard both physical and digital assets.
  • Energy and Environmental Sustainability: The program encourages buildings to adopt robust energy management practices, waste management, recycling programs, and other sustainable initiatives. By prioritizing sustainability, BOMA 360 properties reduce resource consumption and environmental impact.
  • Training and Education: The BOMA 360 designation places a strong emphasis on continuous education for property management teams. Training in industry best practices ensures that staff stay current with evolving standards and technologies, enhancing service quality and operational expertise.
  • Tenant and Community Engagement: BOMA 360 buildings foster positive relationships with tenants through consistent communication, community involvement, and amenities that support a high quality of life. This engagement often includes tenant surveys, feedback mechanisms, and sustainable transportation options such as bike racks and car charging stations.
